Enhancing Community Mobilization and Sensitization and Peaceful Co-existence - (ECMSPC)

The ECMSPC project targets mainly South Sudanese and Congolese refugees including the host community living in the refugee settlements of Rhino, Imvepi, Lobule and Kiryandongo refugee settlements. The targeted community sectors include general protection, SGBV, Education, Livelihood, Child protection, Leadership, WASH, Health,Shelter,environment and Legalstructures engaging women, men, children, youth, PSNs, the elderly and the marginalised.

Cultural Gala & Exhibition

Cultural Gala and exhibition in Rhino Camp refugee settlement. CTEN conducted this activity targeting the diverse South Sudanese ethnicities and the Ugandan host communities. This was aimed at building peace and peaceful co-existence between and among the different South Sudanese and their Ugandan counter parts.  The activities were cultural dances, exhibitions cultural artifacts, narration of cultural history, tasting and eating cultural foods.  All participants were considered winners and awarded prizes ranging from sheep, goats, cultural costumes, washing soap and degetergents and among others.

Community Baraza

In order to achieve peaceful co-existence among and between the different South Sudan ethnicities and the Uganda host community, CTEN conducted community Barazas with the objectives of achieving social cohesion.

Great Refugee Road Run - GRRR

In commemoration of the World Refugee Day in 2022, CTEN with support from UNHCR initiated the Great Refugee Road Run. The major aim was to disseminate cross cutting information to the refugees and host community. With the success of the annual GRRR, Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) was pleased and programmed it in their annual calendar. For the last two years, however, CTEN could not organize the GRRR due to COVID 19 pandemic that ravaged the entire world.   

As a precursor to the World Refugee Day, CTEN organized the 4th edition of the annual GRRR with the theme “A Green Earth to Heal, Learn & Shine” aimed at sensitizing and creating awareness on the devastating effect of climate change.  The primary object was to promote social cohesion amongst the refugees and the host community.

The activities were as follows, Music inspired aerobics’ as a warm-up session prior to the Runs, 1 Mile Run , 5KM Run, 10 KM Run , 100M Sprint for the heavy weights, Kids athletics, A tricycle race (Sport for the physical challenged), Goal ball (Sports for the visually impaired), Tug of war, Music shows, Motivational talk, Fund raising for greening the environment, Live music shows by artist from person of concerns and host community, Multi sectoral Information Sharing
